This a sterling silver necklace with a black jade bear. The carved bear fetish is most likely made by Zuni, Native Americans. The pendant is a matte black color in the shape of a bear. Bear fetishes are used for healing and protection, strength and journeying, as well as hunting/gathering. When the bear rises from hibernation it is a reminder of waking oneself from within and allowing sleep and rest when a journey is over. The vintage pendant is wrapped in a heavy sterling wire and has a large bail on top, so you can easily add it to a cord or chain. It comes with a sterling silver necklace wire that was made in Mexico.
