This high‑capacity backup system is engineered for professional film and television environments that need reliable, scalable and cost‑effective archiving of large media files. It is designed to work with standard 3.5‑inch computer hard drives, allowing studios to build extensive backup libraries using inexpensive storage while maintaining high performance over modern networks. The rack‑mount enclosure integrates cleanly alongside other network equipment, making it suitable for post‑production facilities, broadcast environments and mobile DIT setups.
The system features eight independent drive bays, each supporting removable and hot‑swappable 3.5‑inch SATA hard disk drives. Every bay operates independently, enabling multiple backup disks to be mounted simultaneously. When a disk is full, it can be removed and replaced without interrupting operation, allowing archive capacity to grow over time. This approach is ideal for long‑term project storage, replay archives and educational environments where large volumes of media must be retained securely.
High‑speed network access is provided through four integrated 10G Ethernet ports, ensuring sufficient bandwidth for backing up large media files from multiple systems at once. An additional Ethernet‑over‑USB‑C connection allows direct access from a laptop while reserving the high‑speed network ports for shared users. File sharing is supported via modern protocols, enabling up to 200 connected computers to access the storage simultaneously.
Global collaboration is supported through native Blackmagic Cloud integration. Projects and media can be synchronised automatically, ensuring backups stay up to date with collaborative DaVinci Resolve workflows. Proxy workflows are supported, allowing efficient cloud synchronisation while original camera files remain stored locally. This provides a continuous, live backup of active projects while editing continues.
Monitoring and management are handled via an HDMI output that displays real‑time information such as storage capacity, disk activity, cloud sync status, user access and network throughput. Each drive bay is surrounded by an LED indicator that shows read and write activity, providing instant visual confirmation of system status. Power is supplied by dual internal AC power supplies, delivering redundancy and reliability for critical backup operations.
